Our Mission

Our goal is to unite individuals through friendship, establishing a platform where people of color can connect, create, collaborate, educate, and give back—all while having fun and making lasting memories.

Our History

The POC was founded in 2001 by a group of African-American residents in the Clearbrook retirement community in Monroe, NJ. They aimed to connect with others who shared similar backgrounds and experiences. Although present, they were seldom seen and had few opportunities to interact. The group sought to create a forum where African-Americans within the community and surrounding areas could meet, share common interests, and engage with one another.
